Major manned station and junction on the Port Augusta-Hawker Line and the Peterborough-Quorn Line .
Multiple Loops and sidings for station, goods, grain and fuel depot plus loco servicing facilities.
Quorn was originally the junction between the Central Australia Line (Port Augusta to Alice Springs) and the Peterborough-Quorn Line and was a major service and supply centre. In 1950 the Central Australia Line was diverted away from Quorn and in 1956 the remaining line from Port Augusta was terminated at Hawker. As a result traffic through Quorn declined significantly.
After the closure of the Port Augusta-Hawker Line (1972) and Peterborough-Quorn Line (1987) Quorn became the operations centre for the Pichi Richi Railway, a narrow gauge steam preservation railway running from Quorn to Port Augusta.
