The information in this Wiki Page applies to TANE, TRS19 and Trainz Plus. This guide will show you how to backup a Picklist.

Main Points:
DotPoint.JPG Picklists (as a list of assets) cannot be saved as .CDP files so they cannot be backed up using that method

Access Your Current Picklists

Steps		 DotPoint1.JPG Open CM and Your Picklists

From the Trainz Launcher select  Manage Content 
In TRS19 (all versions) SP4 and Trainz Plus SP4
Open the Filter List

Pick List Filter

Select the Picklist to be backed up. This will open the Picklist.

DotPoint.JPG In TRS19 SP4 and Trainz Plus SP4 you CAN select and backup the Default Picklist
In T:ANE and TRS19 (all versions) SP3 and Trainz Plus SP3 and earlier
  1. in Content Manager open the Content menu
  2. select Edit Picklist

This will display all your current Picklists.

  1. right mouse click on the required Picklist
  2. select Open Picklist from the popup menu

  1. left mouse click on any one of the items

  1. right mouse click on any one of the items
  2. select List Assets in New Window from the popup menu

NotePad.PNG The option Export to CDP appears in the menu list but this will export all the selected assets (with ALL their meshes, textures, config.txt files, etc) and not just a list of <kuids>. The resulting .cdp file can easily be many megabytes in size.

The Picklist assets will be listed by their kuids in the Asset KUID box of a new search filter

  1. click inside the Asset KUID box and press Ctrl-A to select them all
  2. copy the asset list to the clipboard (press Ctrl-C)

Transfer the List to Notepad (or Any Text Editor)

  1. open your favourite text editor (MS Notepad, Notepad++, etc)
  2. click inside the Notepad window and then press Ctrl-V (paste)

  DotPoint2.JPG Save the Picklist as a Text (.txt) File:
  1. from the Notepad File menu select Save or press Ctrl-S. If you are not using Notepad, make sure that the file format is text (.txt) for compatibility
  2. select a suitable backup location for the backup file
  3. enter a filename - the same name as the Picklist would be a good idea - then save

How to Restore a Picklist

Steps		 DotPoint1.JPG Open Notepad or Other Text Editor:
  1. open your favourite text editor (MS Notepad, Notepad++, etc)
  2. select and load the Picklist text file into your text editor
  3. select all the text - press Ctrl-A
  4. copy the text to the clipboard - press Ctrl-C
  DotPoint2.JPG Open CM in the Destination Trainz and Create a New Filter:
  1. in the copy of Trainz where the Picklist is being restored or transferred, open Content Manager
  2. start a new filter, select Custom
  3. paste (Ctrl-V) the asset list into the Asset KUID box
  4. delete from the filter the line Installed - this will ensure that any Picklist assets that are on the DLS but not installed on your system will be identified
  • if any assets are identified as Available for download (i.e. they are not installed) then download and install them first

  1. select an entry and then select all (Ctrl-A)
  2. right mouse click on any entry and select Add to Picklist and then New Picklist from the popup menus
