The information in this Wiki Page applies to TANE, TRS19 and Trainz Plus. This guide will show you how to backup a Picklist.

1. Open CM and Your Picklists:<br>

From the Trainz Launcher<br>
:a. select Manage Content<br>
:b. in Content Manager open the Content menu<br>
:c. select Edit Picklist<br>
	
This will display all your current Picklists.<br><br>

If you are using a Default picklist there is NO way to select it for moving or backup.<br><br>

2. Select the Picklist to be Backed Up:<br>
:a. right mouse click on the required Picklist<br>
:b. select Open Picklist from the popup menu<br>

This will open the Picklist.<br><br>

3. Select Picklist Contents:<br>
:a. left mouse click on any one of the items<br>
:b. press Ctrl-A to Select All the items<br><br>

4. Transfer List to a New Window:<br>
:a. right mouse click on any one of the items<br>
:b. select List Assets in New Window from the popup menu<br><br>
	
5. Copy Assets in Picklist:<br>
:a. click inside the Asset KUID box and press Ctrl-A to select them all<br>
:b. copy the asset list to the clipboard (press Ctrl-C)<br><br>

Transfer the List to Notepad (or any Text Editor)<br>

6. Open Notepad or Any Other Suitable Text Editor:<br>
:a. open your favourite text editor (MS Notepad, Notepad++, etc)<br>
:b. click inside the Notepad window and then press Ctrl-V (paste)<br><br>

7. Save the Picklist as a Text (.txt) File:<br>
:a. from the Notepad File menu select Save or press Ctrl-S. If you are not using Notepad, make sure that the file format is text (.txt) for compatibility<br>
:b. select a suitable backup location for the backup file<br>
:c. enter a filename - the same name as the Picklist would be a good idea - then save<br><br>

Restoring a Picklist basically involves reversing the above steps.<br><br>

1. Open Notepad or Another Text Editor:<br>
:a. open your favourite text editor (MS Notepad, Notepad++, etc)<br>
:b. load the saved Picklist text file, from Step 7 above, into Notepad<br>
:c. select all the text - press Ctrl-A<br>
:d. copy the text to the clipboard - press Ctrl-C<br><br>

2. Open CM in the Destination Trainz and Create a New Filter:<br>
:a. in the copy of Trainz where the Picklist is being restored or transferred, open Content Manager<br>
:b. start a new filter<br>
:c. paste (Ctrl-V) the asset list into the Asset KUID box<br>

3. Create a New Picklist:<br>
:a. select an entry and then select all (Ctrl-A)<br>
:b. right mouse click on any entry and select Add to Picklist and then New Picklist from the popup menus<br><br>
	
4. Enter a Name for the Picklist:<br>
:a. Enter a name for the Picklist and click Ok<br><br>
